Early births delay
OC coach’s arrival

Obion County Central football supporters will have to wait a little while longer to meet new head coach Kevin Goltra.
Goltra has something a little more important going on.
The scheduled open house Saturday at the OCCHS fieldhouse that was to afford Rebel backers the opportunity to meet Goltra has been postponed while he and wife Tiffany welcome the arrival of twins today. The births are nearly three weeks earlier than what was originally predicted.
The open house will be rescheduled in the near future, according to Quarterback Club organizers of the event.

South Fulton hires
new soccer skipper

Kevin Legerton has been hired as the new boys’ soccer head coach at South Fulton High School.
The Trinidad and Tobago native will work as a paraprofessional at SF, replacing Mixon Moore. Legerton, 34, works in management support at Tyson Foods in Union City.
Legerton grew up playing the game in his home country and then was an all-conference striker/midfielder at Bethel College.
He began off-season conditioning drills with his new team last week, and the season starts up in March.

UTM football ranks
30th in final polls

The UT Martin football team finished the 2012 football season with an 8-3 record and its first-ever victory over a Bowl Championship Subdivision team, Memphis.
Now that the season is officially over, the Skyhawks are ranked among the best teams in the country. UT Martin is 30th in the final Football Championship Subdivision Coaches Poll and 30th in the final Sports Network Poll.
UTM was one of three Ohio Valley Conference teams to get votes in either or both polls this season. Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Illinois were also in both polls.
North Dakota State, which defeated Sam Houston State in the championship game, was No. 1 in both polls. Sam Houston State was No. 2.
The FCS Coaches Poll is based exclusively on a voting panel of head coaches in the FCS under the cooperation of the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association and is administered by the Southern Conference.
The Sports Network Poll is voted on by a national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries.
UTM, which won the OVC in 2006, was ranked No. 13 in the final Sports Network poll that year.
