County’s JV finals all split decisions

‘Split’ was the watchword in middle school hoops Monday night.
Ridgemont and Lake County, South Fulton and Martin and Lake Road and Fulton City all went 1-1 against each other on the local hardwood.
R’mont won the girls’ game against LC, 44-31, the boys’ game vs. Martin, 52-26, and the girls’ contest against Fulton City, 41-21.
Highlights of all games reported to the Messenger are as follows:
Ridgemont 44, LC 31(G)
McClay Ferrell nailed 5-of-6 from 3-point range to lead the Lady Mustangs to victory.
Ferrell finished with 15 points to lead R’mont.
Kari O’Steen and Carly Bramlett both chipped in with seven markers for the winners who led 20-8 at the half and by 22 points (40-18) with three periods in the books.
D.J. Pearson topped Lake County with 15 points.
LC 47, Ridgemont 30 (B)
Heath Cary had eight points and Alden Marvin seven for the Cougar boys.
SF 52, Martin 26 (B)
The Red Devils doubled up Martin, leading 19-6 after one and 34-11 at halftime.
Zaccius Mays had 17 points and three steals for SF, while Jyriq Jones finished with 10 points, six assists and five steals.
Hayden Kelly came up with six steals.
Martin 52, SF 22 (G)
The Lady Panthers closed out a dominating performance with a shutout in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Red Devilettes 11-0.
Using its size and quickness to force several turnovers via its fullcourt pressure, Martin grabbed a 21-6 lead after one period and never looked back, ahead 33-12 at the half and 41-22 by the end of the third period.
Tasia Jones had 13 points, Heidi Croddock pitched in nine and Charlyce Davis added eight for the Lady Panthers.
Diamond Smith scored seven points, Emma Glisson added six and Tiffany Potts had three points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists for SF, which closes its regular season with an 11-5 record.
LR 41, Fulton City 21 (G)
The Lady Generals celebrated 8th Grade Night in style, improving to 11-4 after outscoring Fulton City 25-8 over the final two periods.
Bryleigh Jennings had 15 points to pace the victors.
Dharma Grinder had 11 points and six steals, while Jenna Smith finished with seven boards and five steals.
Fulton City 45, LR 25 (B)
The Generals were within 21-11 at the half, but couldn’t break into the win column.
Blake Huggins had 13 points and six rebounds for Lake Road, while Mason Davidson also grabbed six caroms.
Collin Terry dished out four assists, as did Thomas Mathis.
