SF probe ongoing
The Messenger. 02.25.08 The investigation is continuing into an incident that resulted in South Fulton High School being placed on lockdown all day Friday. Precautionary measures were put into place Friday at the school after some questionable writing was discovered Thursday on a wall in a boys’ restroom. The school was searched but nothing suspicious was found. Obion County Director of Schools David Huss said the South Fulton Police Department and Obion County Sheriff’s Department both photographed the writing as part of the investigation and lockers were searched for anything suspicious. Officers were also on hand at the school throughout the day Friday. “We’re not taking it lightly by any stretch,” Huss said. As a precaution, the school was on lockdown all day Friday, which means all classroom and exterior doors were locked. Huss said as rumors circulated in the community, several parents checked their children out of school early Friday. Huss had emphasized to The Messenger on Friday that no threats were ever directly made to any student or teacher and no gun was ever found on the premises.
