Two arrested, charged for meth

The Weakley County Sheriff’s Department arrested two people Monday on meth-related charges.

Arrested were Bradley Stenberg, 33, and Bobbie Jean Stanford, 41, both charged with promotion of methamphetamine, initiation of meth manufacture and possession of methamphetamine.

Investigators allegedly found a meth lab in and around the Shades Bridge Road residence where the two were staying.

It was the ninth meth lab or meth lab dump site the sheriff’s department has cleaned up this year.

For comparison, the sheriff’s criminal investigation division cleaned up and reported 24 meth labs and meth lab dump sites in 2012. Those sites were spread across the county.

In 2011, just four labs were located.

Sheriff’s officials said the increase in labs is likely due to the increase in the “shake and bake” meth-cooking method.

Other meth-related arrests so far this year include:

• Jan 8 – Christopher Wayne Jones, 35, of 301 Old Bethel Road and Donna Faye Copeland, 35, of Fulton, Ky., were arrested and charged with manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine after a search warrant was served at the Jones’ home near the state line on Palmersville Highway 89.

Jones had parts of a meth lab in his hand when he opened the door as deputies drove up to the house, according to the sheriff’s department. Copeland was inside the house.

While at the house, two more people were charged with drug-related crimes. Anthony Daniel Travis, 22, was charged with possession of meth after authorities said they found to baggies of meth in his pockets. Dakota J. Doughty, 20, of Wingo, Ky., was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a sechdule II prescription pill after authorities said they found those items in his vehicle.

• Jan 17 – Phillip Duane Morgan, 45, Tobey Elaine Morgan, 34, and Seth Lee Morgan, 20, all of Dukedom, were charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia following a search warrant at their home at 3779 State Line Road.

Phillip Morgan and Tobey Morgan were also charged with promotion of meth manufacture after a check of cold tablet purchase logs showed the pair bought 32 times in 2012 and made a purchase several days before the meth was found in their house.
