OWLS Conference slated

Posted: Tuesday, February 5, 2013 8:00 pm

Area students in sixth through 12th grades in Obion County who are interested in learning more about wildlife can attend a four-day conference this summer.
The O.W.L.S. (Outdoor Wildlife Leadership and Service) Conference takes place at Land Between the Lakes in Brandon Springs May 28-31.
The cost is $175 per person and includes lodging, meals and workshop materials.
Topics to be taught at this year’s event include:
• Wilderness Survival Skills
• Dutch Oven Cooking
• Canoeing
• GPS/Geo Caching
• Swimming, fishing and wildlife programming
O.W.L.S. Conference is open to all youth currently in grades 6-12. Due to space restrictions, registration is very limited. Participation will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applications and fees are due March 1 at the Obion County University of Tennessee Extension Service office in Union City.
For more information, contact UT Extension agent Una Johnson at 885-3742.
