Posted: Wednesday, February 6, 2013 8:00 pm

The Fulton County Genealogical Society is busy planning programs and trips for this year.
The society has scheduled an array of speakers and topics.
• Feb. 21 — Richard Galloway, priest at Trinity Episcopal Church, will be speaking about his “Time in India.”
• March 21 — Bill Homra will share about “The Naifeh Family.”
• April 18 — Fulton Police Chief Terry Powell will speak about “The Gangs of Fulton.”
• May 16 — Bill Austin from Discovery Park of America will speak about “The Grist Mill.”
• Aug. 15 — Eddie Price will speak about his book “Widder’s Landing.” Price will appear in period costume and tell about the Battle of Raisin during the War of 1812. He will have copies of his book, which sells for about $28.
The society is busy securing speakers for the remainder of the year.
The Genealogical Society has several trips planned for this year, including the Pogue Library in Murray, Ky., the Bryant Memorial Library in Milan, Henry County Archives in Paris, Weakley County Archives in Dresden and the Tennessee State Archives in Nashville. The exact dates and arrangements have not been finalized.
The Genealogical Society meets at noon at the Keg on Lake Street in Fulton the third Thursday of every month. Visitors are always welcome.
Officers for the year 2013 are president, Joan Livingston; vice president, Mary Louise Gossum; treasurer, Elaine Allen; secretary, Peggy Hale; and corresponding secretary, Don Livingston.
Anyone interested in joining the Fulton County Genealogical Society is asked to contact Ms. Livingston at (731) 479-9726.
