NAMED LIBRARY SWEETHEART — Lisa Smartt of Dresden, writer of The Smartt View, which is published in The Messenger each Wednesday, was recently declared “Library Sweetheart” by the Obion River Regional Library System, one of nine regional library support centers for the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Mrs. Smartt was among the speakers who attended a recent in-service held by the Obion River Regional Library System. She spoke about her new book, “Doug and Carlie,” which is a humorous small town romance with several West Tennessee reference points, including Sharon and Reelfoot Lake. The other speaker was C.E. Weldon Library board member Sue Lasky, who discussed resources available from WLJT, where she serves as director of education and outreach. Among those attending were (first row, from left) Marlow Peters, Obion River Regional Library assistant director; Linda Wyatt, Benton County Library; Linda LeDuke, Tiptonville Public Library; Freda Reddick, Rhea Library in Paris; Sabrina Exum, C.E. Weldon Library in Martin; Janice Peevyhouse, Newbern Public Library; Terri Wilson, Carroll County Library; Judy Clark, Obion River Regional Library administrative assistant; (second row) Roberta Peacock, C.E. Weldon Library; Susanne Davis, Tiptonville Library; Linda Rice, Crockett County Library; Susan Hubbs, Benton County Library; Mrs. Smartt; Diane Wright, Humboldt Library; Connie Bates, Gibson County Library; Liz Cooper, Big Sandy Library;  Sandy Dowland (hidden), Greenfield Library; Melinda Popplewell, McKenzie Library; (third row) Mary Carpenter, Obion River Regional Library director; Candy McAdams, McWherter/Weakley County Library; Kathy Watson, Sharon Library; Christi McClain (hidden), Milan Library; Danny Hussey, Obion County Public Library; Josh Batchelor, C.E.
