Martin Board accepts Creative Label settlement

Posted: Wednesday, February 13, 2013 5:00 pm

Martin aldermen voted to accept settlement terms Monday in a lawsuit with Creative Label.
The total settlement for sale of the property is $31,713. The city will receive $17,157.82 after 2012 property taxes, tax attorney fees, a clerk’s fee and a sheriff’s fee are deducted.
In other actions from the meeting, the board:
• Adopted a resolution authorizing the mayor to execute and submit an application for a 2013 Community Development Block Grant for a sewer system improvements project.
• Adopted a resolution to hire an administrative management services firm to assit in preparing and administering the city’s 2013 CDBG application.
 • Adopted a resolution to hire an engineering firm to assist in the preparation and implementation of the city’s 2013 CDBG application.
• Accepted the low bid of $15,500 from Vintage Iron Works for fencing around the splash pad at the corner of Main and South Lindell streets.
• Adopted wrecker rotation guidelines. The purpose of the guidelines are to “establish policy, procedures and regulations for members of the Martin Police Department and towing companies concerning towing service standards and to further ensure the safe and efficient removal, storage and safekeeping of any and all vehicles being towed by and placed into the custody of such towing companies.”
• Alderman Danny Nanney was appointed vice mayor. Alderman David Sudberry was appointed to the historic zoning commission. Frank Black and Michelle Siler were appointed to the library board. Library ex-officio members are Mary Carpenter and Marion Pitts. Barbara Dunlap was appointed to the insurance committee, and Sandy Mehlhorn was appointed to the planning commission.
• Accepted a report on the city’s audit. There were only two findings. First, the city had a deficit fund balance in the Solid Waste Fund as of June 30, 2012. Second, the city’s Water Loss Schedule was not the newly required AWWA loss schedule.
• Heard a presentation presenting the Martin Police Department with accreditation. See Thursday’s Press for more on the presentation. Published in The WCP 2.12.13
