Donaldson Brothers has served county for more than 30 years

Posted: Wednesday, February 13, 2013 12:00 am

While some businesses in this day and age seem to come and go, there are still those few who manage to stick around through thick and thin and, in the process, become community landmarks in their own right.
For more than 30 years Donaldson Brothers Rentals has been proud to offer houses, townhouses, apartments, and duplexes in the Weakley County area and strives to find the perfect fit for each resident to call home.
Donaldson Brothers Rentals is the Martin Business Association’s business of the month for February.
Owners Ralph and Roger Donaldson established Donaldson Brothers Rentals in 1981. Using the knowledge and experience passed down to them by their father, the late Herman Donaldson, Ralph and Roger started the company with only one duplex.  Since then the company has grown to include numerous complexes across the Martin area, featuring one, two, and three bedroom apartments and houses.
During the 1980s and ’90s Donaldson Brothers Rentals expanded as they built additional duplexes, Donaldson Apartments, Lone Oak Apartments, and Grand Falls Luxury Apartments.  Throughout this time they also acquired a few houses.  In 1999 they purchased Beaumont Park Apartments and the Ridgeview Apartments in 2001.  In 2004 the original duplex was replaced with a three-bedroom house, and the Beaumont Park Apartments were sold in the summer of 2006.  In 2009 Donaldson Brothers Rentals purchased the Oak Hill Townhouse Apartments.  The same year they also added another rental house and the Grand Falls East Luxury Apartments.
In the summer of 2004, Donaldson Brothers Rentals added the DBR Clubhouse Resort complete with an indoor heated swimming pool, hot tub, fitness center, game room, sundeck, picnic and playground area, and 18-hole miniature golf course.  The beautiful grounds feature a sparkling pond with a bridge overlooking a fountain and waterfall.  This facility is offered to their residents at no additional charge.
Donaldson Brothers continues to move forward and recently expanded with the addition of the Crescent Ridge subdivision which features new three bedroom houses overlooking a small lake just outside of Martin.  Future plans in the subdivision include a pavilion with picnic tables for residents to enjoy.
The company works hard to provide quality housing at an affordable price and exceptional service from a family you can trust.  Staff members take the time to find the right unit for each person’s needs.  The atmosphere is very casual, and customers quickly become friends.  Ralph and Roger still tend to the business full time and are involved with the day-to-day operation of the company.
Donaldson Brothers Rentals is also proud to offer 24-hour maintenance service to their residents.  Tony Harrison, head of maintenance,  focuses to maintain a high standard of professionalism and quality.
“Consistence is very important in our business,” said office manager Rita Taylor.  “Most of all, we want to be known as fair and honest business people, offering quality service at fair prices and providing all this with friendly personal service.”
Donaldson Brothers Rentals works to remain active within the community by participating in events like the Soybean Festival and supporting local charitable and non-profit organizations, such as Relay for Life, We Care, and CDS.  They are involved with the Martin Business Association, Weakley County Chamber of Commerce, and the Martin Rotary Club.
The company also tries to stay up to date in technology and social media.  Donaldson Brothers has a very useful website that features pictures, floor plans, and detailed descriptions for the properties, as well as current and upcoming availabilities.  Donaldson Brothers can also be followed through Facebook.
In 1999 Donaldson Brothers Rentals was honored in the National Who’s Who of Executives and Professionals.  Then in May of 2006 they were presented the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award.  They have also been voted Weakley County’s Best Apartments for the Weakley County Press Reader’s Choice Award every year from 2006 to 2012.
The main office is located at 132 Hynds Road in Martin.  More information about the different properties Donaldson Brothers has to offer can be found at www.dbrosrentals.com or by calling (731) 587-2575.
