Indictment list grows by 30 following arraignments

By CHRIS MENEES
Staff Reporter
Over 30 more indictments from the February term of the Obion County grand jury were made public following arraignments Monday in Circuit Court.
The grand jury convened last week and heard evidence in a number of cases to determine if charges should be levied by indictment.
The panel returned 81 indictments for various charges — including several drug-related offenses — and those charged were arraigned Monday morning in Obion County Circuit Court.
The indictment list released last week by Circuit Court Clerk Harry Johnson did not include a number of indictments which were still sealed, or secret, pending the arrests of those charged. Several people were arrested Friday when officers from the 27th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Union City Police Department and Obion County Sheriff’s Department rounded up several suspects indicted as the result of an undercover drug operation by the DTF.
The additional indictments from the grand jury and the specific charges disclosed Monday included:
• Jerry Joe Adams Jr. — counterfeit controlled substances, two counts.
