Tennessee reports
minor violations

KNOXVILLE (AP) — Tennessee has self-reported 10 NCAA secondary violations, including three in men’s basketball.
The university’s compliance department posted the violations and subsequent punishments on its website Wednesday.
One of the men’s basketball violations involved holding open individual skill instruction before a football game. During that session, recruits making official visits were allowed to attempt shots while coaches were present. The others were inconsistencies in the camp registration process and prohibited grocery shopping services for student-athletes.
The list included one self-reported violation by the football program.  It concerned an administrative intern providing coaching to players during a game.
All the violations occurred since August.

Skyhawk softball
headed to Georgia

For the second consecutive weekend in the early part of the 2013 softball season, the UT Martin softball team will play in a tough non-conference tournament — the Kennesaw State Classic set for Saturday and Sunday at Twin Creeks Park in Woodstock, Ga.
The Skyhawks will play Mercer and Ball State on Saturday and Kennesaw State and UAB on Sunday.
The Skyhawks opened their 2013 season last weekend in the Jimmy John’s Lions Classic at Southeastern Louisiana where they went 2-2. UT Martin claimed victories over Louisiana Tech and Saint Louis, but suffered setbacks to Southeastern Louisiana and eventual tournament champion Delaware.
Kenzi Tate led the Skyhawks with an 8-for-13 effort at the plate with three doubles, one home run and five RBI. She hit .615 for the tournament.
Tate, Morgan Lewis, Autumn Glenn and Casey Vincent all saw action in the circle for the Skyhawks this past weekend. Tate came away with a 2-0 record and a 2.25 ERA.
