The Martin Police Department is investigating a report of an attempted aggravated robbery that allegedly occurred Thursday morning about 4:10. Police received a call from a man at 3J’s convenience store who said he’d just robbed about an hour earlier. The victim, Naif Altariqi, told police two black men robbed him about 3 a.m. as he was leaving Cadillac’s Bar. Altariqi said the men approached him and said they needed a ride home, according to a police report. Once the men were inside his vehicle, they allegedly began demanding money from Altariqi and attempted to steal some cologne that was inside the vehicle. Altariqi told police that one of the men said to the other, “If he does not do what we want, shoot him.” Altariqi told police one of the men appeared to have a gun in his jacket. Altariqi told police he told the men he needed to stop and use the bathroom as the vehicle approached 3J’s. He told police he went inside and was followed by the men. He told police he locked himself in the bathroom for an unknown period of time and that the two men were gone when he finally emerged. No items were actually stolen, according to the report.
