It was shift change time at Union City’s Baptist Memorial Hospital Monday afternoon and housekeeping worker Geraldine Jenkins took refuge in the tower waiting room as she kept an eye out for her ride home. Outside, thick gray clouds rolled in, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. By nightfall, powerful storms converged on the area with winds, rain and lightning. Monday’s storms came in right on cue as Tennessee is observing Severe Weather Awareness Week this week. |
