PLANNING A BALL — Lifetime and current members of Junior Auxiliary of Obion County gathered at the Obion County Public Library Tuesday afternoon to discuss last minute plans for this year’s charity ball,

By DONNA RYDER
Associate Editor
It’s not too late to plan to attend the Junior Auxiliary of Obion County charity ball this Saturday.
President Tammy Allen told The Messenger tickets may be purchased at the door, but the group needs to know before Saturday how many people will be attending so they can plan for the food. Tickets are $50 per person.
Anyone may attend and those residents may make their wishes known by calling Mrs. Allen at (731) 431-6704 or vice president Cristina Grimm at (731) 592-0865.
This year’s theme is “Bringing Charity Ball Back to Where It All Began.”
The charity ball will be held at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862. Cocktail hour will be 6-7 p.m. and dinner will follow from 7-8:30, during which time there will be a live auction of donated items. Participants may also bid on silent auction items from 6-10 and be entertained by the band BulletTown from 8:30-midnight.
Lifetime members will be recognized during the evening.
The event is the annual fundraiser for Junior Auxiliary. The group’s service projects include “Taking Care of Me,” a hygiene project; Adopt-a-Family, a child welfare project; Diaper Divas; Coats for Kids; Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee-Union City honor roll parties; Obion County Public Library programs; Fairest of the Fair; CornFest; Support Our Schools; Safeline; Healthy Start Healthy Finish; and food bank.
Those unable to attend, but who wish to make a donation to the organization, may do so by mailing a check to Junior Auxiliary of Obion County, P.O. Box 853, Union City, TN 38281.
Associate Editor Donna Ryder can be contacted by email at dryder@ucmessenger.com.
