Bironas, Dawson
sign with Titans

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms keeping kicker Rob Bironas off the free agent market and with the team he has spent the past eight seasons.
The Titans announced the deal Thursday. NFL.com and The Tennessean both report the deal is for two years.
Bironas, 35, ranks as the third most accurate kicker in NFL history, connecting on 85.6 percent of his attempts.
Bironas scored 110 points and was 25-of-31 on field goals last season.
The Tennessee Titans have also signed defensive end Keyunta Dawson to a one-year contract.
Dawson originally signed with Tennessee last year, playing in the first three games of the season before a hamstring injury put him on injured reserve.

NCAA will review
new recruiting rules

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The NCAA says its board of directors will review two proposals adopted in January that were aimed at deregulating recruiting after some coaches and administrators expressed concerns about the possible changes.
The NCAA announced on Thursday the rules working group will modify proposals that would have removed certain restrictions on who can recruit and the amount of recruiting material that can be sent to prospective high school athletes.
The proposals also would lift restrictions on how often coaches can text recruits.
Modified proposals will be considered by the Division I board of directors when it meets May 2 in Indianapolis.
Since the board adopted 25 measures to help streamline NCAA rules regarding recruiting, numerous football coaches and athletic directors have come out against them, including the entire Big Ten.
