Anyone who has ever wondered how grandma made her famous preserves is invited to participate in a course on making jams, jellies and preserves at the University of Tennessee at Martin’s main campus. The course will be offered from 6-8 p.m. on Thursdays from April 4-18. It will explain the differences between jam, jelly and preserves and the processes for making each type, according to a spokesman. Students will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning with instructors Tammy Rorie and Donna Ewer. The registration fee is $75 per person, but students ages 12-16 may attend free if accompanied by a paying adult. All students must pay an additional $10 supply fee to the instructors at the first class meeting. The course is sponsored by the UT Martin Office of Extended Campus and Online Studies. To register, contact ECOS at (731) 881-7082 or register online at http://www.utm.edu/departments/ecce/nondegree/home.php.
