Greenfield tennis' latest victim is Dyersburg
The Lady Yellowjackets of Greenfield continued their winning ways on the tennis courts of West Tennessee. The most recent team to fall victim to the racquets of Greenfield were the Lady Trojans from Dyersburg High School.
In action Thursday in Dyers-burg, Greenfield produced its fourth team win in four outings with a 12-1 victory.
In singles action, Greenfield's No 1 Katie McCall, No. 4 Melissa McCartney and No. 5 Natalie Medling all won by 8-1 scores. McCall defeated Molly Herman. McCartney topped Hannah Chapman and Medling downed Eva Hayes.
Both GHS No. 3 Summer Hoke and No. 7 Hannah Rawls won by 8-3 margins. Hoke defeated Jordan Gunn, and Rawls won over Deana Plewa.
At No. 6 singles, Lady Yellowjacket senior Taren Hatcher earned an 8-4 win over Elizabeth Finley.
A score of 8-5 was the final tally in GHS wins at No. 2 by Mallory Robinson over Cameron Tipton and at No. 9 where Taylor Hatcher topped Laura Czecholinski.
Greenfield's lone loss of the afternoon came at No. 8 singles where Lady Jacket Haley Perkins battled before falling 9-7 to Sarah Houston.
In doubles play, the Orange and Black's tandem at No. 1 of McCall and Robinson won easily, 8-1, over Herman and Tipton.
The No. 4 duo of Rawls and Perkins representing GHS won 8-2 over Plewa and Palmer.
The No. 2 and No. 3 pairs from Greenfield both won by 8-5 scores. At No. 2, Hoke and McCartney downed Gunn and Finley, while at No. 3 Medling and Taren Hatcher came out on top over the Dyersburg duo of Chapman and Hayes.
