‘Duck Commander’ to speak
Second Baptist Church will welcome “The Duck Commander,” Phil Robertson, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the worship center.
Tickets for the event, which will include a grand prize drawing, are $5 and these may be purchased in advance at the church or at the door.
The church is located at 831 Everett Blvd. in Union City.
The Rev. Eddie Mallonee is pastor.

Women’s meeting set
The “Turning Showers Into Flowers” luncheon of the Ken-Tenn Christian Women’s Connection will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Catfish Restaurant of Martin.
The special feature will be “Ideas Are Blooming” by Vicki’s Designer Touch of Martin. She will be giving tips for beautiful arrangements.
Music will be presented by Maurine Hickman of South Fulton, whose program will include “Singing in the Rain.”
Speaker for the program will be Carol Morris of Loudon, whose topic will be “Finding Sunshine After the Showers.”
Mrs. Morris will be telling how she is “Solving the Glitches” in life. She is an experienced computer specialist and uses her expertise as a volunteer for several non-profit community organizations. In her spare time she enjoys reading.

Revival to begin
New Salem Baptist Church in Mason Hall will have revival services beginning Sunday morning and continuing through Wednesday night, with services at 11 Sunday morning, at 6 that evening and at 7 p.m. through the week. The Rev. Wayne Perkins, director of missions for Weakley County Baptist Association, will be the evangelist. Ray Peery, song leader at Bible Union Church, will be leading the singing. The Rev. Dewayne Harris, pastor, invites everyone to join him and the congregation at New Salem.

Prince will speak
The Rev. David Prince will be the guest speaker at Liberty Worship Center Church of God of Prophecy at 120 Forestdale in South Fulton Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The Rev. Danny Walker is pastor.

Choirs present program
“Then & There ... Settled & Done” will be presented by the combined sanctuary and youth choirs of Calvary Baptist Church, located at 2250 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City, Sunday at 6 p.m. The community is invited to join the congregation for this musical as they celebrate together the day that the blood of Jesus washed away sins and the payment for sin was settled and done.
“The great news and hope for those of us who believe is that one day we will see Him in heaven, ‘Then and There,’ face to face,” a spokesman said.
The musical is under the direction of Luke Parker, Calvary’s minister of music.

‘Youth Idol’ kicks off
The Community Youth Idol contest, featuring competition with a focus on talent, originality and stage presentation, will be on stage at the Whitney Cozart Pavilion at the Obion County Fairgrounds April 19 at 2 p.m. Registration deadline is Friday.
“We are looking for our very own Community Youth Idol. We are asking people to examine the singing talents of youth they know and send the very best to this competition,” a spokesman said.
Contestants must be at least 5 years old and younger than 18 to participate.
There will be prizes that include a trophy and a $50 Visa card for individual and group winners.
Concessions and lots of good music should make this a wonderful evening for participants and spectators, the spokesman said.
Proceeds will go to the Emmanuel Church of God in Christ building fund. The church is located in Tiptonville and Elder Curtis McLendon of Union City is the pastor.

Revival set
Graves Chapel Church of God, located at 112 Luther Davis Road near Hornbeak, will begin revival services Sunday and continue through April 18. The Rev. Randy Lainhart of Paris will be bringing the message Sunday at 5 p.m. and weeknights at 7.
The Rev. William Matheny and the congregation invite the community to worship with anointed preaching and singing each evening.

To host revival
Pentecostal Tabernacle Church in Water Valley, Ky., located on Highway 45 South, will begin revival services Sunday at 10 a.m. and will welcome Dr. Sheila Isom of Danville, Va., for a series of outstanding services. She will be preaching and providing musical praise and conducting a gospel meeting that will not be forgotten and will be the cause of many blessed changes, a spokesman said. Services on Sunday evening will be at 6, with weeknight services through Wednesday at 7.

Yard sale planned
United Methodist Women of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church will sponsor a yard sale to raise funds for Reelfoot Rural Ministries Saturday — rain or shine — from 8 a.m.-noon in the church’s Christian Life Center.

Jones to be honored
The congregation of Mount Herman Missionary Baptist Church in Woodland Mills will honor their pastor, the Rev. James O. Jones, and his wife, Mary, with special pastor appreciation services Sunday.
At 11 a.m. Leroy Crumble, the associate pastor, will bring the message. There will be a fellowship meal following worship and at 3 p.m. the Rev. Richard Blakemore of New Obion Church in Clinton, Ky., will be the speaker.

Ordination service set
New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, located at 1106 East Vine St., will host ordination services for the office of deacon for Willie “Bill” Williams and Perry Douglas Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Bishop Paul Jones and his congregation from New Beginnings Freewill Baptist Church in Cairo, Ill.
The church pastor, Bishop Robert L. Merriweather, the assistant pastor, Elder Ron Smith, and the congregation invite the community to this special service.

Change of service time
Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, which meets for worship at 203 North First St., Suite 1 in Union City, will meet for worship at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. This is a change of time.
Services will return to the 3 p.m. hour on April 20, a spokesman said.

Gospel meeting to begin
Garland Elkins will be the speaker for Bishop Street Church of Christ’s gospel meeting Sunday through Wednesday. The church meets at 908 Bishop St. in Union City.
On Sunday at 9:30 a.m., his topic for Sunday school will be “Jonah: An Unwilling Missionary.” The 10:30 a.m. services will focus on the topic “The Great Day of Pentecost.” That afternoon at 1:30, following a fellowship meal to mark Friends and Family Day, the congregation will hear another sermon titled “Laying a Good Foundation.”
On Monday at 7 p.m., he will speak on “An Unnamed Hero.” Tuesday’s 7 p.m. topic will be “Change” and the 7 p.m. Wednesday service will be “Breaking the Alabaster Box.”
Elkins is a native of Tennessee who was educated at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He has conducted numerous gospel meetings in several states and appears on numerous lectureships throughout the brotherhood each year.
He is a faculty member of the Memphis School of Preaching and is coeditor of the journal “Yokefellow.” He is also in charge of public relations for the school and has written several tracts and articles for leading publications. He lives in Memphis and is associated with Forest Hill Church of Christ.
