To host yard/plate sale

Bells Chapel C.M.E. Church, located at 207 North Highland Drive in Fulton, will be hosting a yard sale in the church parking lot Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. Tables are available for rent for $15.

The church will also serve fish and chicken dinners, with beverages included, for $6.50, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Divorce Care sessions set

Divorce Care classes will be held on an ongoing basis for 12-week cycles, beginning 6 p.m. Wednesday, at Union City Second Baptist Church. Workbooks are $10 and are available at the church, located at 831 North Everett Blvd.

Medicare info offered

“Navigating the Medicare System,” a program for this community, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 19 in the fellowship hall of Martin First Baptist Church, located at 123 University St. Ambassadors for Christ, the senior adult ministry of the church, is sponsoring the event. A light lunch will be served.  

The program is free, but reservations should be made by Wednesday.

The purpose of the meeting is to assist those who are already enrolled in Medicare, those who are planning their retirement and those who may help a family member or friend in using Medicare services. Although the primary focus of the program will be to address Medicare Part D questions, other topics that affect retired persons will be covered.  

Speakers for the program will be Mike Swain, a pharmacist with Van’s Pharmacy in Martin; Carey Capps, office manager of the Union City Social Security Office; and Holly White, SHIP coordinator with the Northwest Tennessee Area Agency on Aging.  

 

Ladies Day slated

Highway 45 Church of Christ in South Fulton will observe Ladies Day Saturday. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until 10. The guest speaker will be Delonia Woullard of Sand Hill Church of Christ in LaVergne.

Brunch will be served following the program.

 

Film showing planned

Evangel Temple Family Outreach Center will be hosting a film, “Pilgrim’s Progress,” at 5 p.m. Sunday in the activities building at 2200 West Reelfoot Ave. in Union City.
