High school marching bands to compete

Twenty-five to 30 high school marching bands of all sizes from Tennessee, Mississippi and Kentucky will face off in competition before a panel of experts Saturday at the University of Tennessee at Martin’s Graham Stadium.
The event is set to start at 1:30 p.m and to conclude at about 10 p.m.
A variety of music styles will be performed, including everything from classical music to rap and from Broadway musicals to classic rock.
There will also be exhibition performances by the UT Martin Skyhawk Marching Band and the UT Martin Steel Drum Band, according to organizers.
Admission will be $8 for audience members ages 12 and older (includes contest program). Admission is $4 for children ages 5-11, with children ages 4 and younger to be admitted free.
Concessions will be available throughout the event.
