The Messenger 10.11.07
The University of Tennessee at Martin Office of Extended Campus and Continuing Education is offering youth programs to include writing and ACT preparation workshops in October. “Young Writers’ Clubhouse” is scheduled for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays Oct. 20, Dec. 1, Feb. 2 and April 12. The cost is $30 per session, which includes a writing notebook and pen, or $100 for all four sessions. This workshop is a series of writing experiences for third through eighth graders where children write creatively, work with West Tennessee Writing Project teachers and share with their friends. Each child will need to bring lunch or money to purchase pizza by the slice. “Making Sense of the ACT” will be offered from 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays Oct. 6-27. Ron Ramage will be the instructor and the fee will be $50. This course will help participants plan strategies to make the highest score they are able to make on the test. Students will use the Real ACT Prep Guide, which should be brought to the first session. The cost of the text is not included in the registration fee. The book may be purchased on the UT Martin campus at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore by calling (731) 881-7760. This class is limited to 20. To register for a workshop, contact ECCE at 1-800-482-5199 or (731) 881-7082.
