Portion of 'Messiah' to be sung

The Martin Choral Society, under the direction of Dr. Mark Simmons, University of Tennessee at Martin assistant professor of music and director of choral activities, will make its return to the concert stage at 3 p.m. Nov. 30 in the Harriet Fulton Theatre of the Fine Arts Building at UT Martin. The choral group will perform the Christmas portion of Handel’s “Messiah” with chamber orchestra and soloists from the voice faculty of UT Martin, as well as singers from Union University in Jackson and Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo. “We encourage everyone to come out and take part in this wonderful seasonal work that will help to set the tone for a joyous holiday time of year,” Simmons said.
