UTM Baseball To Host Winter Prospect Camps

Registration for the 2008 Skyhawks Baseball Winter Prospect Camp at the University of Tennessee at Martin is now in progress. UT Martin head baseball coach Bubba Cates and assistant coaches Brad Goss and Jake Weghorst will conduct two-day pitching and catching camp and a two-day hitting camp Dec. 29 and 30 at Skyhawk Baseball Field on campus. Both camps are for high school prospects and the registration fee for both camps is $75 each. The pitching and catching camp is scheduled from 9 a.m.-noon on Dec. 29 and 30. The hitting camp is set from 1-4 p.m. on Dec. 29 and 30. Cates is in his 11th season at the helm of the UT Martin baseball program and in his 19th year of coaching. Widely respected in baseball circles, Cates is dedicated to sustaining a successful program at the university for many years to come. Goss, from Russellville, Ark., enters his fifth season working the UT Martin baseball program. Weghost, a volunteer assistant from Waco, Texas, graduated from Baylor University in 2007. He played in two NCAA Regional Tournaments and pitched in the 2007 Big 12 Championship game against Texas A&M.
