Dresden Student Hurt In Crash
A weekend car accident on a rural, county road has put a local teenager in the hospital. Cody Brundige, a Dresden High School sophomore and Lions football player, is reportedly at The Med in Memphis after he suffered a back injury Saturday. According to Tennessee Highway Patrolman Paul Mathis, Brundige misjudged a curve, which caused his ’99 Jeep to overturn and land in a ditch on the side of the road. The one-vehicle accident occurred on Fire Tower Road outside of Dresden Saturday evening. Brundige was the only person involved in the wreck. The 208-pound lineman reportedly walked from the vehicle to a nearby home where he awaited emergency personnel. He was transported to Volunteer Community Hospital and later sent to The Med in Memphis. The extent of Brundige’s injuries where unknown at press time. The THP, Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, local first responders and the Weakley County Rescue Squad responded to the accident.
