Scoring droughts key in G'field split | Greenfield High School, Bradford High School, Cody Ricketts, Bradford, Greenfield, Tennessee

Get open — Greenfield senior Cody Ricketts led the Yellow-jackets with a 24-point effort in his team's easy 51-17 win over visiting Bradford on Tuesday night.
Prolonged scoring droughts plaguing the Lady Yellowjackets and the Red Devils resulted in a split decision in victories for Greenfield and Bradford Tuesday night in Greenfield.
The first points of the game for the Lady Yellowjackets came at the 4:42 mark in the second quarter and Bradford survived a late Greenfield surge to take a 45-39 win. In the second game, Greenfield held the Red Devils to just nine points after the first quarter and rolled to a 51-17 defeat of its Region 14-A rivals.
Erica Oliver scored her team’s first six points. Sarah Combs added a jumper and Bradford led 8-0 after one.
The Lady Red Devils built the lead to 14-0, but Jordan Galey ended Greenfield’s drought by knocking down a basket. Shameilla McMullen hit a pair from the line as did Katie McCall and Mallory Robinson added a bucket, but Greenfield trailed 21-8 at the half.
Galey went to work in the third. Hitting two treys in a row including one at the buzzer, she brought Greenfield within six, 29-23, at the end of three.
Bradford put up the first four points of the quarter and increased the lead to 10. McCall brought the Lady Jackets within single digits with two 3-pointers. GHS put up the last five points, but the Lady Red Devils escaped with a 45-39 win.
Oliver led BHS with 16 points. Galey scored 13 and McCall finished with 10 for Greenfield.
In the second contest, the score was tied early, but GHS used free throws to its advantage. Cody Ricketts scored nine points and the Jackets led 14-8 after one.
Ricketts put up five points and Tyler Dunning added four in the second as Greenfield held the Devils to three free throws and led 25-11 at the half.
Wes Clark and Cody Ricketts scored six and eight points, respectively, in the third. Bradford was held to five points and the lead increased to 41-16.
Allowing the visitors only one point in the fourth, Greenfield easily took the 51-17 win.
Ricketts led GHS with 24 points. Jamal Wilson scored five for Bradford.
