Lester Hudson was named the Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the fifth straight week after averaging 30.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.7 steals per game as UT Martin went on the road and won three games to improve to 12-6 overall and 5-3 in OVC play this season.
Hudson, a 6-2, guard from Memphis, opened the week with a 38-point effort at Southeast Missouri where he hit 14-of-27 (51.9 percent) from the field. He followed that with a 29-point, 10-rebound performance at Tennessee Tech in a game televised nationally on ESPNU. Hudson hit 14-of-25 (56 percent) from the floor, dished out seven assists and had five steals in that contest. Hudson ended the week by scoring 25 points, grabbing eight rebounds and once again netting five steals in 33 minutes of action as UTM won at Jacksonville State.
Hudson shot over 50 percent (50.7 percent) from the field for the week. He has been named OVC Player of the week six times this season and 10 times in his two-year career. The five straight weeks as the Basketball Player of the Week in the conference extends Hudson's current record of reigning as the OVC’s top player in consecutive weeks.
