Let it fly — Westview's Amber Rechis nailed a half-dozen 3-pointers in her team's 82-60 win over Crockett County in the District 13-AA Tournament quarterfinals Monday night.
The Crockett County Lady Cavaliers will likely be having nightmares about Amber Rechis for weeks to come.
Rechis drilled six 3-pointers and totaled 32 points in Westview's 82-60 victory over the Lady Cavs in the District 13-AA Tournament quarterfinals Monday night in Dyer.
The half-dozen treys came just three nights after she buried seven from behind the arc and posted 27 points against Crockett County in the regular season finale for both squads on Friday night.
The most recent effort helped Westview advance to the district semifinals and earn a berth in the upcoming regional tourney. The Lady Chargers will next take on Obion County in the semifinals at 7:30 on Thursday night at GCHS. The loss brought an end to Crockett County's season.
Westview reeled off a 15-5 run in the first quarter to achieve its first double-digit lead at 17-7. Rechis had nine of those first 17 points including the trey that bumped the lead to 10 points.
Lady Charger Sara Olds added six of her 17 total points in the opening quarter as WHS surged to a 19-7 lead after a frame.
Breanna Pitcher caught fire in the second quarter. Her outburst actually started with a defensive rebound. On the fastbreak, Olds fed Pitcher for an 8-footer. Pitcher added a trey, another fastbreak jumper, a steal and layup.
The Lady Chargers extended their cushion to 27 points, 34-7, before Crockett County finally scored on a Chassity Lillard 4-footer with 2:44 left in the half.
The largest lead of the game came when Rechis grabbed a defensive rebound and drove the length of the court for a layup and a 28-point gap, 37-9, with 79 ticks remaining in the half.
At the intermission, Westview enjoyed a 39-15 lead.
In the third, Rechis got hot from 3-land, connecting three times. Crockett County countered with Jasmine Johnson layups. Johnson scored 12 of her team-high 25 in the third.
After three, WHS led 62-40.
The Lady Chargers could have gone scoreless in the fourth and still won. Westview got two more 3-pointers from Rechis and six points from Jacey Sims in the fourth on the way to the 82-60 victory.
