Foul trouble, Choctaws' hectic pace hinder Westview's chances in final | Westview Chargers, Davell Lloyd, Jacob Lloyd, Dyer County Choctaws, Martin, tennessee, Brian Haskins

Don't look back — Westview's Jacob Lloyd, here beating his Choctaw defender, notched 29 points in the Chargers' loss to Dyer County in the district championship game.
Any hopes the Westview Chargers had of upsetting the state's No. 2 ranked team in Class AA were hampered by foul trouble for the top WHS spark plug, Davell Lloyd.
With Davell Lloyd riding the pine for huge chunks of time in both halves, Dyer County wore down the Westview guards and earned a 75-67 victory to take the title in the District 13-AA Tournament championship game Monday night in Dyer.
"To beat a team like Dyer County, you've got to do a lot of things right. With our foul trouble, we just couldn't get going," said Westview head coach Brian Haskins, who was named the District 13-AA Coach of the Year after the game. "Still, I'm proud of the way we fought back. Our kids don't give up."
For their Region 7-AA opener, the Chargers will host the winner of Tuesday night's Haywood/Fayette-Ware consolation game. Tipoff for the regional game is set for 7 p.m. on Friday.
With 4:38 left in the first quarter, Davell Lloyd was whistled for his second foul. The two resulting free throws gave Dyer County an 11-8 lead. Westview struggled from 3-point range and trailed 17-13 after one quarter.
In the second frame, DC dominated the boards repeatedly gaining second chance points. The Choctaw lead stretched to a dozen, 34-20, on a Cedarius Taylor 4-footer with 1:54 left in the first half. By halftime, Westview had whittled the gap back to nine, 37-28.
In the third frame, the Chargers found the range from behind the arc. Jacob Lloyd and Dillon Gardner each nailed a pair of treys as WHS cut its deficit to six on several occasions, but each time Dyer County answered.
Heading into the fourth, WHS trailed 57-48. In the final stanza, Dyer County led by as many as 14 before taking the 75-67 win.
