At the college level

The Messenger 06.08.09 Tara Elizabeth Hawley, daughter of Janet Hawley of Union City and the late Lawrence Hawley, recently graduated from the Nashville School of Law with a doctor of jurisprudence. She is the granddaughter of Frank and Jewel Newsom of Union City. Miss Hawley graduated in the top 25 percent of her class. A 2001 graduate of Obion County Central High School, she also graduated from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson with a degree in accounting in December 2004. She currently works for the Nashville law firm of Higgins, Himmelberg & Piliponis. — — — Magen Elizabeth Warner of Troy was recently named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Dyersburg State Community College with a 3.8 grade point average. She is pursuing a degree in nursing. Miss Warner, a 2008 honors graduate of Obion County Central High School, is the 19-year-old daughter of Brent and Mary Hayes of Troy and Brad Warner of Nashville. She is the sister of Bryce Warner, 12, who will be a seventh-grader in the fall. She is the granddaughter of Jim and Angie Warner of Union City, Robert and Evelyn Albright of Obion and Jimmy and Naomi Hayes of Samburg. — — — Steven Craig Castellaw of Rives was recently named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville. Students earn the academic distinction by completing a full course load with a quality point average of 3.1 or better on the university’s 4.0 scale. ——— A select group of 50 West Tennessee high school junior and senior students will attend a week-long summer residential program that will expose them to the rigors of college life June 21-27 at the annual University of Tennessee at Martin Youth Scholars Academy. The students will participate in academic and social growth and development activities, as well as improve their skills and abilities in several subject areas.
