The Messenger 06.10.09 Dyersburg State Community College’s Office of Public Information recently earned honors at the spring meeting of the Tennessee College Public Relations Association (TCPRA), held at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville. The Office of Public Information received a silver award for its viewbook and a bronze award for its 30-second enrollment commercials. The pieces were entered in the TCPRA’s annual competition and the awards presentations were made at the conference’s closing dinner. There were 60 entries in the various award categories and nine different schools submitted entries. The viewbook is a general purpose publication used for DSCC admissions recruitment. The publication was produced in cooperation with DSCC’s Office of Admissions and Records. The commercials were a collaborative production of the Office of Public Information and DSCC’s Media Services. DSCC’s director of public information, Jane Pate Vondy, was creative director and production coordinator for each. Formed in 1975, TCPRA is an alliance of communicators who represent the colleges and universities, public and private, two-year technical schools, technology centers and community colleges that together define higher education in Tennessee. TCPRA holds two meetings each year. Currently, 17 college and universities from across the state are members of TCPRA.
