Questions remain in attempted murder case

The incident involving a former Gleason businessman last weekend is now being classified as attempted murder by Gleason investigators. According to a press release issued by the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, local authorities are searching for clues surrounding the severe beating of 49-year-old Alan C. Owen of Gleason. Owen was found around 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 28 outside of the Gleason Post Office with life-threatening head injuries. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville where he remains in critical condition. “The Gleason Police Department along with the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is asking anyone who might have observed something between 9 and 10 p.m. on Sunday evening in downtown Gleason or anyone who has any information about the attempted murder of 49-year-old Alan C. Owen of Gleason to call the sheriff’s department at 731-364-5454, the TBI hotline at 1-800-824-3463 or crimestoppers at 1-877-364-8479,” the press release notes. The press release also notes a reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime. WCP 7.07.09
