Peeler has double wins at NTMP

A pair of Weakley Countians went head-to-head in a pair of finals Saturday night at the Playground of Power, Northwest Tennessee Motorsports Park in Gleason. Dresden native Mike Peeler and Greenfield's Michael Walker twice raced their way into the finals. Both times Peeler managed to be the first to the finish line. In the Pro (No Box) division, Peeler raced his 1969 Road Runner to a speed of 98.41 mph. Walker took second place in his 1974 Nova with a speed of 81.69 mph. Peeler's other victory came in the Sportsman Footbrake competition. The Dresden resident drove his 1970 Challenger to the win at a top speed of 97.55 mph. Again in his 1974 Nova, Walker took second place with a speed of 81.81 mph. In the Super Pro division, Jackson's Robbie Graves raced his 2008 M&M dragster to a win with a speed of 130.81 mph. In second place was Mike Devine, from Paducah, Ky., racing his 1978 Mustang to a speed of 95.16 mph. In the Jr. Dragster competition for racers ages 13 and older, Palmersville resident Joey Caldwell took the top prize with a fast start and a speed of 78.66 mph. Kyle Clapp, from Mayfield, Ky., was the runner-up with a speed of 82.10 mph. In the Jr. Dragster division for drivers ages 8-12, Zac Fulcher, from Farmington, Ky., was the winner with a speed of 73.26 mph. The runner-up was Big Sandy's Michael Hicks with a speed of 67.27 mph.
