The Messenger, September 24, 2009 Family-Friend Day slated Union City First Assembly of God will host Family and Friend Day featuring “Lives of Praise” Sunday at 1810 Pleasant Valley Ave. “If you are not currently attending a church, we invite you to be our guest this Sunday,” a spokesman said. Youth revival set Bells Chapel CME Church, located at 207 North Highland Drive in Fulton, is inviting the community to a youth revival Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Eric McKinney Sr. said the speaker Friday will be the Rev. Buster Johnson of New Beginnings Ministries in Water Valley, Ky. On Saturday, the Rev. Michael McClure from Turning Point Ministries in Hickman, Ky., will fill the pulpit and Sunday, the Rev. Deon Wade of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah, Ky., will be the special guest. Beginning special services Revival services will be held at Union City Second Baptist Church Sunday through Wednesday. Sunday services will be at 10:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday services will start at 7 p.m. Acton Bowen, student pastor at CrossPoint Church in Gadsden, Ala., will be the speaker for Sunday morning’s service. Dr. Tom McCoy, senior pastor at Thompson Station Baptist Church, will be the speaker Sunday evening through Wednesday. Barry Keathley, minister of music, will be leading the worship. The Rev. Eddie Mallonee is the pastor.
To sell fish dinners The Greater Praise Choir of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, located at 720 East College St. in Union City, will be selling fish dinners Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until 2 p.m. The menu will include fish, spaghetti, cole slaw, white beans, potato salad and bread for $6. Delivery is available by calling 885-7362. The Rev. A.E. McCadney is the pastor. To receive license On Sunday morning, Union City First Church of God associate pastor Jerry Wicker will receive his “License to Christian Ministry.” This is a step toward full ordination, according to the Rev. Mel Jacobs. “Jerry has been approved by the Ministerial Assembly of the Church of God in Tennessee after completing all required paper work and interviews with the pastoral ministries team. He will also bring the morning message, and he and his wife, Beth, invite all their friends to join them for this special occasion,” Jacobs says. Worship will begin at 10:30.
Testimony service set Manna Ministries, located at 4001 Ken-Tenn Highway near Union City, will host the monthly “testimony service” at 6 p.m. Sunday. “Exciting, miraculous testimonies will be shared by Steve Legons of Tiptonville and Betty Andrews of Union City. These testimonies are proof that God still performs miracles today and He is no respecter of persons,” says the pastor, the Rev. Ruth Green. “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Come and get your faith lift. If you have a testimony you would like to share in this monthly service, call 885-7428 to get on the list. Production set “Glory and the Fire,” a spectacular and riveting dramatic presentation that will “have you on the edge of your seat with a roller coaster ride into eternity” is being planned for Sunday at 6 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Union City Civic Auditorium, located at 1311 High School Drive.
