Homecoming will be the backdrop for the Brehm Hall expansion opening ceremony and open house on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus.
The ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the start of Quad City during homecoming weekend.
Among those speaking during the ceremony will be Dr. Thomas Rakes, UT Martin chancellor.
Also making remarks will be Dr. Jerald Ogg, vice chancellor for academic affairs; Dr. Jim Byford, College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences dean; and Dr. Jerry Gresham, Department of Agriculture, Geosciences and Natural Resources chair. They will join other state, local and university officials at the event.
The $1.7 million 9,900-square-foot project provides an additional lecture room, laboratories, lab preparatory areas, conference rooms and offices.
The original building was constructed in 1950. In 1970, it was named the C.E. Brehm Agriculture and Biology Hall honoring Dr. Brehm, the 15th president of the University of Tennessee, who served from 1946-59.
