LOCAL TALENT — Katie Snider, Gleason FFA Chapter Vice President, was selected to be a National Talent Performer at the 80th National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis, Indiana on Oct. 22-27. After 100 students auditioned, only 15 acts were selected to perform on national television (RFD-TV). Snider was chosen to play “Great Balls of Fire” on the piano. She also performed at the Presidential Welcome Luncheon which was hosted by Dr. Larry Case, Chief Executive Officer and National FFA Advisor. Over 50,000 people attended this agricultural education convention which is the largest annual student convention in the United States. In 1977, exactly 30 years ago to date, Katie’s father, Mike Snider played the banjo at the 50th National FFA Convention held in Kansas City, Mo. Mike and Katie became the first father and daughter to play at the National FFA Convention. Both performed at the age of 17 while serving as local FFA chapter officers in their hometown of Gleason.
