Mrs. Townes hosts Delphians

The Delphian Review Club met recently in the home of Ann Townes, with vice president Sue Greer presiding.
Sixteen members answered roll call with “something your mother taught you.” Mitzi Clendenin was welcomed as a visitor.
After a seasonal “thought for the day” by chaplain Maggie Vaughan and a brief business meeting, Martha Clendenin presented a review of the book, “Some Day You’ll Thank Me for This.”
The third in the “Pastel Trilogy” by Gayden Metcalfe and Charlotte Hays, this book is also known as the “Official Southern Ladies’ Guide to Being a Perfect Mother.” The authors present an hilarious look at the joys, trials and tribulations of being the daughter of a Southern mother, as well as appropriate recipes for life happenings in the South.
Mrs. Clendenin read the “Southern Mothers’ Rules for Life” list and “Some Signs You Might be a DSM” from the book, elaborating on a few of the rules and signs.
Overall, the book is a “good read” — entertaining and thought-provoking — for all readers, especially women who love living in the South, she said.
Following the program, co-hostess Jenny Kirkland served a delicious cheesecake dessert.
