Percussion ensemble to perform

The University of Tennessee at Martin percussion ensemble will perform its fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell Auditorium in the Holt Humanities Building.
The concert will feature Dr. Amy Simmons, associate professor of music, clarinet; Daniel Vargason, student conductor; Cory Bozard, drum set; and Jacob Abbott, marimba.
Works will include “Cloud Forest” by Blake Tyson, “Identity Crisis” by Michael Aukofer, “Damn” by John Mackey, “Vespertine Formations” by Christopher Deane and several other surprises. The variety of instruments will consist of bird whistles, pots and pans, gargling, marimbas, drumsets and more.
The ensemble is comprised of 17 music majors from across the state and is under the direction of Dr. Julie Hill, assistant professor of music.
