The Dresden Lady Lions rolled into their Monday night encounter with the visiting rival Gleason Lady Bulldogs riding a four-game winning streak.
It looked like the Lady Lions might stretch the streak to five wins when a third-quarter rally sent the home team into the fourth quarter with a 26-25 lead, their first of the night.
Instead a 14-0 run by the Gleason girls to start the fourth flipped the momentum and was the deciding factor in the Lady Dawgs' 47-37 victory.
In the second game, the Dres-den boys doubled the Dawgs production, 8-4, in the third quarter to push their lead to double digits for the first time en route to their 53-37 win.
In the girls game, the Lady Dawgs were hot from 3-point range early with Jenna Frazier, Kim Edenfield, Ashley Coble and Sara Hensley all nailing treys to lead the way to an 18-9 advantage after a quarter.
In the second and third quarters, the Lady Lions regained their footing and slowed the game's tempo more to their liking. Dresden, taking chunks of time off the clock with each possession, held the Lady Dawgs to three points in the second to trail 21-14 at halftime.
Alex Glisson pitched in 11 of her team-high 15 points in the two middle frames to help Dresden climb closer. Jesica Parsley's trey cut the GHS lead to a point, 25-24, before the Lady Dawgs turned the ball over. A Glisson drive and pull-up jumper put Dresden in front, 26-25, at the end of the third.
In the fourth, the Lady Dawgs ran a give-and-go with Cooper hitting Frazier for a layup, part of her team-high 15 points. Fouled on the play, Frazier nailed the free throw to put Gleason in front for good. The Lady Dawgs went on to connect on 12-of-15 free throws in the quarter to fuel the 47-34 Gleason win.
In the boys game, the Lions held GHS to four points in the third to gain some breathing room in their 53-37 victory.
Ben Rollins kept Gleason on target in the first quarter, scoring all 12 Dawg points including a pair of treys. Dresden countered with a balanced effort led by Daniel Harris' six points to lead 15-12 after a stanza.
The Lions shut down Rollins in the second quarter, but Harris kept scoring. The Lion forward nailed back-to-back shots behind the 3-point line to stretch a one-point lead out to seven points at 26-19. Dresden maintained the seven-point cushion at the half with a 28-21 lead.
In the third, Gleason was limited to four points on buckets by Rollins and Cody Ezell. Dresden managed only eight points total. The DHS lead hit double digits for the first time on a late Dillon Matlock layup for a 36-25 at the end of three quarters.
The Lions never lost their double-digit advantage in the fourth to take the 53-37 win.
Harris topped Dresden with 19 points, while Rollins' 20 points led the Dawgs.
