UC Council to meet
The Messenger. 11.19.07 Union City Council will meet Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the courtroom at the Union City Municipal Building. A public hearing for the purpose of reviewing the city’s proposed budget for fiscal year July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008, will precede the regular meeting. During the regular meeting to immediately follow, old business on the agenda includes considering the second and final reading of an ordinance annexing property on the southern end of Rutherford Street; considering the second and final reading of an ordinance zoning property on the southern end of Rutherford Street as R-2 (medium density residential); considering an appointment from Ward 5 to the City Beautiful Commission; and considering appointments to the Convention Center Committee. New business on the agenda includes considering an ordinance amending an ordinance to include Union City Electric System employees in the city’s Occupational Safety and Health Program; considering the city’s proposed budget for fiscal year July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008; considering an appropriations ordinance for the City of Union City for fiscal year July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008; considering an ordinance setting the city’s tax rate for fiscal year July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008; considering an ordinance appropriating funds from hotel/motel tax receipts; considering a resolution approving a revised salary plan for the City of Union City; considering authorization to accept bids for the leasing of available property in the Northwest Tennessee Regional Industrial Center for farming purposes; receiving a report and a recommendation on bids received for roofing at Central Fire Station; receiving a report from Mary Nita Bondurant on health insurance for city employees; receiving a report from Bedford Dunavant regarding recent actions of the Union City Industrial Board; and considering canceling the council’s orientation meeting for December. The meeting is open to the public.
