OC, Fulton students earn Spanish honors

For the 26th consecutive year, Dyersburg State Community College recently hosted the annual Spanish Feria.
The Feria has become one of the capstone events for area high school students taking Spanish language and culture courses. Students compete in areas as diverse as crafts, cooking, dictation, video production and poetry.
This year, about 220 students from Obion County Central, Fulton City (Ky.), Brighton, Crockett County and Munford high schools took part in the Feria.
Munford High School claimed the overall winning trophy.
Local winners included:
• Artesanias (arts and crafts), pottery/model building — Second place, Adam Hamrick, Fulton.
• Artesanias (arts and crafts), paper crafts — Third place, Madalyn Williams, OCCHS.
• Artesanias (arts and crafts), painting/drawings — First place, Dvonte Newbill, Fulton; second place, Catie Mae Barker, OCCHS; and third place, Katie Holdman, Fulton.
• Artesanias (arts and crafts), posters — Second place, Kristina Rushing-Aden, Fulton.
• Cartas de Identidad (name tags) — First place, OCCHS; and second place, Fulton.
• Cocina (food), entremeses (appetizers) — First place, Zach Bunch, OCCHS; and second place, Rachel Lavx, OCCHS.
• Cocina (food), entradas (main course) — Third place, Amber Foy, Fulton.
• Poesia (poetry), Nivel I (Level I) — First place, Tori Seng, Fulton.
• Poesia (poetry), Nivel II (Level II) — Third place, Adam Hamrick, Fulton.
• Sainetes (skits) — Second place, Fulton High School.
• Conversacion (conversation), Nivel I (Level I) — First place, Fulton High School.
