Lakewood gymnasts claim four state championships

Bridget Bradberry, a level 5 gymnast, was state champion on vault with a score of 9.15. Mercee Eubank, a level 7 gymnast, also captured a state crown on vault with her score of 9.3. In the prep-op division, Taylor Bowling claimed a pair of state championships. Bowling took top honors in beam with a 9.1 and in floor with 9.05.
In addition to their state championship scores, Brad-berry finished fifth in bars (8.75) and fifth in all around (35.025); Eubank finished in fourth in both floor (8.7) and in all around (33.875); and Bowling finished in second in vault (8.85), bars (8.45) and in all around (35.45).
The Lakewood level 5 team also brought home a third-place team trophy finishing behind only two of 12 teams competing in their division. The level 7 team finished fifth out of six teams.
Other Lakewood competitors were Julie Allen — second in vault (9.1), fifth in floor (9.15) and eighth in all around (34.75); Anna Kate Arnold — third in floor (9.225), fifth in beam (9.0), sixth in vault (8.85) and eighth in all around (34.275); Kelly Childress — fifth in bars (8.75), floor (9.15) and in all around (34.975); Gwyneth Ridley — second in bars (9.1), third in both vault (8.9) and in all around (36.1), and fourth in beam (9.15); Sara Williams — second in floor (9.2); Madison Graves — seventh in beam (8.85) and ninth out of 19 in all around (34.1).
The Lakewood Gymnastics team is coached by Ed Phillips, Caitlin Simpson, Mallory Simpson, Rachel Morgan and Jennifer Sorrell.
