As a part of the Health Information Technology (HIT) consortium led by Pitt Community College, the Dyersburg State Community College HIT program has received funding to create a non-degree training program.  This program will be designed so that individuals with appropriate prior education and/or experience may complete it in six months or less.  Training will begin by Sept. 30.
“Today marks the start of an entirely new era in the education and training of health information management professionals.  This institution and the consortium of which it is an invaluable member, should take a great measure of pride in having been selected to participate in the federal government’s advancement of HIM (Health Information Management) education.  Perhaps, more important, however, is the opportunity to form the next generation of leaders in this expanding profession,” said Rita Bowen American Health Information Management Association President.
The DSCC HIT program is offered both online and through classroom instruction. Susan Osborne serves as program director and Rene Stanley is program instructor.
