The Union City Goodyear plant will transition to a new continuous operations schedule this weekend.
The continuous schedule will begin with D crew reporting to work at 11 p.m. Saturday. The 12-hour shift schedule will begin with B crew starting at 7 a.m. the following morning.
“Continuous operations will give us the opportunity to make high-value-added Goodyear tires seven days a week, instead of six, as we better utilize our assets,” said plant manager Todd Turner.
Turner noted that a lot of advance planning has gone into preparations for this schedule change.
“All of this effort has been directed toward making our plant more competitive and enhancing the service to our customers,” he said. “Ultimately, the success of our team with continuous operations will be determined by how well we meet our production schedule.”
