Parade scheduled
The Messenger. 12.06.07 Union City’s Christmas parade lineup will be at the north end of town — at the intersection of North First Street and West Cheatham Street — at 6 p.m. Monday. In the event of inclement weather, a tentative date of Dec. 17 has been set by the parade’s sponsors, the Union City Jaycees. Chairman Matt Goodrich and co-chairman Josh Robinson say the parade will get under way at 7 and move south down First Street to Jackson Street. Parade viewers are invited to line the city’s prime downtown business street to cheer on the bands, floats, horses and riders and antique cars and other vehicles. Santa Claus has consulted his busy schedule and sent word he will be available to close out the parade and distribute some sweet treats along the parade route. There is no fee to take part in the parade and registration will be at the parade line-up site, where line-up will be organized and numbers distributed to help the judges in their task of choosing three winners in each of three categories — large float, small float and old cars. The prizes will be worth $75 each for first place award, $50 for second place in each of the three categories and $25 for third place. For more information, contact Goodrich at 571-4122, Robinson at 446-4416 or Jaycee Brad Keightley at 796-0371.
