The University of Tennessee at Martin is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of the person or people responsible for the shooting death of an equestrian team horse.
The horse, named Cash, was found injured by a student worker who was feeding animals early Sunday morning in a university-owned pasture. Due to the severity of the injuries, the horse was euthanized, and a post-mortem examination at the university’s West Tennessee Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory found that the injuries were caused by a gunshot. A deer that died from a gunshot wound was found near where the horse was discovered.
Anyone who heard gunshots last weekend in the Gardner-Hyndsver Road or Old Fulton Road areas is asked to contact the UT Martin Department of Public Safety at (731) 881-7777 or the Martin Police Department at 587-5355.
