Delphian Review Club hosted by Gail Latimer

The Delphian Review Club met recently at the home of Gail Latimer with 17 members present.
Jeannine Cranford read the thought of the day. The minutes were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given and new business was discussed.
The program, entitled “Mentors in My Life,” was given by Sue Greer. She began by asking each member to answer roll call with the name of the person, other than parents or grandparents, who had the greatest influence on her life while she was growing up.
Many members responded with the name of a teacher; others named an aunt or a neighbor. All could quickly and easily respond to the question.
Mrs. Greer spoke of the mentors in her own life who lived close by, the Walker family, who loved the children in the neighborhood and always made them welcome in their home. She recalled how the teenagers would gather there to play cards, board games or just hang out while Mrs. Walker would get the popcorn going and bring out the Cokes™. They loved the young people and were always encouraging them to be good students and to think about the future. Mrs. Greer said she felt very blessed to have had them in her life.
Co-hostess Martha Clendenin served cheesecake, topped with fresh berries, and coffee.
