Date and program finalized for MLK luncheon at DSCC

Dyersburg State Community College and the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon at noon Jan. 14, 2011, in the E.H. Lannom Jr. Gymnasium on the Dyersburg campus.
The keynote address will be delivered by Greg Duckett of Memphis.
Duckett is senior vice president and corporate counsel with Baptist Memorial Health Care System. He also serves as Shelby County’s election commission chairman.
Prior to joining the Baptist Memorial Health Care System in January 1992, Duckett served as chief administrative officer for the City of Memphis. He served as director of Memphis Housing and Community Development from 1988-91 and was state counsel to U.S. Sen. Albert Gore Jr. from 1985-87.
He was selected to serve on the Clinton-Gore transition team, evaluating about 40 agencies as part of Housing and Urban Development and working on personnel issues.
He currently serves as a member of the Tennessee Board of Regents, the governing body of state’s higher education system.
In addition, Duckett has served the community in many volunteer capacities.
He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Oberlin College and a doctorate of jurisprudence from the former Memphis State University School of Law.
Tickets for the Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon, which must be purchased in advance, are $10 each. They will be on sale until 4:30 p.m. Jan. 11 at the DSCC business office, located in the Eller Building on the Dyersburg campus, and at the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce.
