Tieranee Rayjean Sturdivant recently graduated from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky., with a bachelor of science degree in business administration and psychology. She graduated from Union City High School in 2007 and is the daughter of Anthony and Deloris Sturdivant of Union City. While in college, she was a volunteer for Appalachian Ministries and Mountain Outreach. She was also a member of the Student Government Association, for which she served as chief of staff and senator for four years, and was a member of Phi Beta Lambda, the national student business association, holding the position of vice chair of recruiting. She was inducted into Psi Chi National Honor Society, which requires an overall grade point average in the top 35 percent of their class, and was the treasurer of the organization. She was also a Critical Thinking Series Graduate, Leadership Seminar Gradu-ate, Monster Diversity Leadership Graduate and Hutton Scholar, serving over 400 hours of community service, and was selected for Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities. Last summer, she was employed with Rollins Inc. in Atlanta as a marketing intern and she will return as a project management intern. This fall, Miss Sturdivant will be attending the University of Maryland in Baltimore County to pursue a master of professional studies degree in industrial/organizational psychology. — — — Jill Konkol recently graduated from Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C. She is the daughter of Joe and JoAnn Konkol and Ricky and Judy Webb, all of Union City. She graduated from Obion County Central High School as valedictorian in 2003 and graduated from Union University in Jackson, also as valedictorian, in 2007. Dr. Konkol will now serve a three-year intern/residency at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. — — — Justin Bell, John Graham and Jana Roney, all of Union City, were named to the honor roll for the spring semester at Bethel University in McKenzie. — — — Several students from the Obion County area were named to the Dean’s List or honor roll for the spring semester at Dyersburg State Community College. Among those named to the Dean’s List were Susan Douglas of Hornbeak; Brian Hill of Kenton; Jon Koob and Maria Rodriguez, both of Obion; Devin Ellison of Rives; Jessica Baker of South Fulton; Whitney Davis, Kayle Garland, Aubri Henderson, Andrew Kelly, Kisha Kelly, Tammy McNeal, Michael Quinton and Autumn Wills, all of Troy; and Travis Daniel, Victoria Harvel, Joshua Hudson and Alicia Mauldin, all of Union City. Local students named to the honor roll were Amanda Trader and Brittany Parker, both of Kenton; Jennifer Pajak and Michael Parsons, both of Obion; Jennifer Smothers of Rives; Pamela Sharp of South Fulton; Kacee Eaves and Ashley Prince, both of Troy; and Rachel Berry, Amber Craddock, Angela Elkins, Chantella Jackson, Ashley Marshall, May Simpson and Matthew Webb, all of Union City.
