Murray St. gridders
are All-Americans

Four members of the Murray State football team were honored by the Consensus Draft Services as they were selected to the preseason All-America teams.
Punt returner Dontrell Johnson was a second-team selection, while quarterback Casey Brockman, running back Mike Harris and wide receiver Arthur Brackett received honorable mention recognition.
Johnson (Moultrie, Ga.), who was named one of the Top 10 special teams players in the FCS, was honored after leading the nation in 2010 with a 21.88 yard per return average.
Brockman totaled 2,442 passing yards and 15 touchdowns, while only tossing six interceptions.
Harris (Tulsa, Okla.) missed all or parts of four games last season, but still managed to nearly rush for 1,000 yards.
Brackett (Madison, Ala.) set a school-freshman record by catching 62 passes for 617 yards and three touchdowns.

UTM kickoff event
announces changes

Several changes have been implemented for this year’s UT Martin Skyhawk Club Kick-off Golf Tournament.
Registration is currently under way for the four-person scramble set for July 29 at Persimmon Hills Golf Course in Sharon.
This year’s tournament will feature two flights, one at 8:30 a.m. and the other at 1:30 p.m.
Instead of a dinner at the conclusion of the tournament, a reception and lunch catered by Hub’s Restaurant in Hickman is slated for noon.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in the tournament and for closest to the pin and longest drive.
The $70 entry fee ($65 if pre-paid by July 22) includes greens fee, golf cart, lunch, beverage stations, goody bag and an opportunity to visit with the UT Martin coaches.
