UT Martin football senior Stephen Shiver was named to the College Football Performance Awards preseason watch list for wide receivers.
Shiver, from Maryville, led the Skyhawk receivers with 36 catches for 634 yards and five touchdowns.
He will enter the season with 73 receptions for 1,177 yards and eight touchdowns.
Shiver is one of seven UT Martin players ever to catch three touchdown passes in a single game.
Additionally, he etched his name in the record book this past season with the three touchdown catches during the 52-21 victory over Lambuth on Oct. 21.
The CFPA list highlights players whose performance merits recognition heading into the 2011 season.
The purpose of the CFPA is to provide the most significantly rigorous conferment in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
The watch lists will include the following categories: quarterback, running back, wide receiver, defensive line, linebacker, defensive back, placekicker, punter, kickoff returner and punt returner.
The three lists involving offensive positions have been released and the lists include nine total players from the Ohio Valley Conference.
In addition to Shiver, three other wide receivers — Eastern Illinois junior Chris Wright, Eastern Kentucky junior Orlandus Harris and Tennessee Tech senior Tim Benford.
The running back list included Murray State senior Mike Harris and Jacksonville State newcomer Washaun Ealey.
The quarterback watch list included Eastern Kentucky junior TJ Pryor, Jacksonville State senior Marques Ivory and Murray State junior Casey Brockman.
UTM finished the 2010 campaign with a 6-5 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference action and earned a little hardware along the way.
UTM went 3-0 against Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay and Tennessee State and won its first Sgt. Alvin York Trophy — given annually to the top performing Tennessee team in the OVC.
The Skyhawks open the 2011 season at 6 p.m., Sept. 1, when they play at Jacksonville State.
UTM will host Union College (Kentucky), Mur-ray State, Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay and Southeast Missouri this season.
Homecoming is scheduled for Oct. 8 against Austin Peay.
